Testing Information

To insure learning, the classroom teachers continuously monitor progress.

Standardized national tests provide a means to compare the achievements of GSC students with German high school students nationwide. Test results are sent to the parents for inclusion in the permanent record of the students’ day schools.

New York State Regents/SATII Subject Test (German)

Most selective colleges expect students to take in addition to the SAT up to three SAT II’s. GSC prepares students for the SAT II in German.

College Board Advanced Placement (AP) German Exam

These exams are important for college/university admission. GSC prepares its students for those.

Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz A, B, C

These are very prestigious examinations. In the US they are only administered by the few German Day Schools and private German Language Schools. Students who pass Sprachdiplom C do not have to take the German language proficiency tests required of foreign students who wish to study at a German university.

GSC was the first school in the US to be authorized by the German school authorities in Bonn (Kultusministerkonferenz) to give these examinations. For more information, please see: http://dsd-kmk.de/
